Adopt

As a rescue, Springfield Kitty Cat Shack Rescue volunteers get to know the cats they care for and can share their knowledge to help you find your perfect forever fur baby.

Please keep in mind that cats are sociable creatures, and sometimes two are better than one. Playmates tend to lower the amount of trouble a single fur baby might get into when they are bored due to busy schedules or long work hours.

We will choose the best applicant for each kitty and reach out to that applicant. If you don’t hear from us, we’ve gone with another applicant for the kitty

How to Adopt

Once you and the fur baby (babies) have chosen one another, you'll be asked to fill out an application and be interviewed by our team on-site at one of our adoption events. Once approved, you'll be asked to fill out the Adoption Contract and asked to pay the adoption fee. ​

We keep our adoption fees as low as possible so that we can get as many fur babies into their forever homes as possible. These adoption fees offset, but by no means cover, the amount of money we have spent on each cat or kitten, and the costs of keeping our rescue running.

Adoption Fees Cover

All kittens or cats you adopt from us have their age appropriate vaccines and treatments as exampled below... 

  • Up-to-date de-worming and flea treatment 

  • Micro-chipped 

  • Neutered or Spayed

  • FVRCP (distemper) vaccine

  • Rabies only included where appropriate.

  • Every Litter Tested for FIV/FeLV

  • Treated for any additional past or present dental and medical issues*

  • Copy of the Adoption Contract

  • Copy of our “What Do I Need: Bring Home Check List and Acclimation Instructions”

 

*Please note that in special cases, extended care may be required, and you will be informed before the adoption.

 

Matches Made After Events or Online

If you saw one of our fur babies at an event or online and after some thought now want to adopt, please contact us with their name, whenever possible, to make sure they're still available. Once you have made your decision to adopt, you can join us at the next event, or we can look at another option if that is not a possible.

 

To speed up the process, you can fill out our Adoption Application online. Please be sure to include the name of the kitten you are interested in adopting. We will be in touch as soon as possible to update you on the status of your application.

If approved you will be asked to complete an adoption contract on site.
