In-Demand Roles for Volunteers

Event Assistance: Helping to set-up, breakdown, and assist with adoption events

Fosters: Learn more about fostering with us

Runners: Taking cats to/from vets and events, etc.
Volunteers Must:

Be at least 18 years of age or have a signed parental release
-
Read and sign the volunteer application
-
Pass an interview and potential background check (this may be talking with your vet) depending on the volunteer role

Read and sign the Volunteer Waiver (See below)

Be able and willing to learn as you go and/or complete training depending on the volunteer role

Be able to volunteer independently
-
Commit to volunteering once a week for the first 3 months

Volunteer service through the volunteer program CANNOT be court-ordered
Essential Skills and Capabilities:

Able to work independently but willingness to work as part of a team

Comfortable speaking to the public

Maintain professional appearance and positive energy when volunteering

Have average vision (you must be able to see the body language of an animal for safety)

Take instructions and follow safety protocols
-
Work with cleaning chemicals
-
Meet the basic physical requirements for volunteers.

Commitment to the SKCSR mission and the volunteer program mission
-
Standing unassisted for long periods of time.

Walk distances unassisted
-
Reliable mode of transportation or arrangements with someone(s) that will fill the role of runner
-
Bend, kneel, crouch unassisted
-
Use both hands simultaneously
-
Lift, carry and move at least 25 lbs. independently
